Dr. Pedersen, is a graduate of the University of Calgary Veterinary Medicine and a Certified Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapist and Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist.
Hailing from Yorkshire, England Dr. Pedersen grew up among equine athletes, actively competing in eventing, show jumping and dressage. As a member of the Yorkshire Pony Club she helped younger riders pick up the basics of English riding, horse handling and stable management.
Upon completion of her Master of Chemistry degree through the University of Hull, Dr. Pedersen moved to Saudi Arabia where she became yard manager for the Al Aghar Riding Academy and was responsible for the care and management of the horses in the livery stables.
Moving to Canada, Dr. Pedersen was accepted into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at UCVM. She went on to complete externships in California to further her hands-on experience with equine ambulatory and hospital care, providing primary care and assistance with surgical, medical and diagnostic imaging cases. She completed her Performance Horse Health Fellowship with the TD Equine Veterinary Group in Calgary and her Masters of Science through the University of Calgary.
Her equine veterinary experience includes working at top competition venues within Canada where she provided tournament medicine and ringside emergency assistance. Her clinical practice ambulatory work involved routine care and emergency on call services.
Dr. Pedersen is passionate about helping equine athletes and companion animals maintain function and mobility for optimal performance and health. She is also a certified animal chiropractor and acupuncturist. Her strong interest in Performance Sports Medicine, Integrative Medicine and knowledge of biomechanical movement help improve the quality of life for the athletes and animals she treats.
